Orestes R Betancourt Ponce de Leon

Orestes is fascinated by the twists of history. He also loves talking. That is why this podcast exists! Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Orestes worked part time as an instructor at the University of Havana and as a tour guide before coming to the US in 2016.  Two years later, he earned a master's degree in public administration from the Middlebury Institute. A little secret: he was selected by his classmates as the commencement speaker. Again, talking is his thing!  Afterward, he interned at the CATO Institute in Washington DC. Since then, Orestes has published articles with think tanks such as the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), the CATO Institute (it's site in Spanish) and the Fundación FAES.  Some of this work has been featured in newspapers such as PanAm Post and ADN Cuba. In addition to this podcast (obviously), Orestes' other passion is collecting ancient coins, especially Roman coins.
